India will play New Zealand in the first ODI of the Micromax tri-series with Sri Lanka as the third side. The tournament will be played at Dambulla, much like how all the games of the Asia Cup were played at the same ground.
India will have a similar look to their side as the one that had played in the Asia Cup. However, the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan will be missing from the line-up and that will mean that the side will be tested.

The good thing from India’s perspective is that they have played three Test matches already and would have had a fair idea of the pitches. They would also remember that the lights at Dambulla are not too good and having played under the lights there, would have had the practice of doing that.
New Zealand are also not a full-strength side. Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum are out of the side, having taken a paternity leave, whereas Jesse Ryder is injured and hence out of the series. Ross Taylor will lead the side, and it will be interesting to see how he captains this young bunch in conditions that are very alien to some of the Kiwi players. India should go into the game as favorites.
